Historically, as now, "kid gloves" were made from the skin of a young goat or lamb or similar animal. These gloves were softer and finer than gloves made from harder leathers, and so became a symbol of elegance and gentility. Next, our kidskin leather has a full natural finish and extremely soft touch because it has been drum dyed. In drum dying the leather is gently tumbled, allowing the dyes to be deeply absorbed through the leather and further softening the skin as it dries. The result is a finish superior to any other process. This full natural finish gives it an excellent breathability, durability and true softness that ensures the silky feel and comfort to the wearer. It also gives a special intensity and richness to our color palette. The leathers we choose are carefully selected for color consistency and uniformity. All naturally tanned and dyed leathers will vary slightly in color from piece to piece or may have shade variations within areas. However, at CNMN we instruct our craftsmen to choose only pieces with the least variation in color and shade.

Natural fibers offer the best characteristics to ensure comfort, fit, warmth and moisture control. Cashmere, angora, virgin lambs wool and silk are natural insulators, wick moisture away from the skin and are feather-soft. At CNMN we solely work with these fine materials.
